A modern fare collection system involving the usage of smart card via automatic, or semi-automatic equipments for wide range of functions including dispensing fare ticket, adding fare-value, calculating fares, validating fare is experiencing a rapid growth in recent years, replacing cash handling and magnetic stripe technology type of ticketing.

The Conversion

In year 2006, our client, a System Integrator of an Asian Country was awarded the project to deploy an Automated Fare Collection System for the buses in the country. The transport operator’s goal was simple, to make the conversion from the existing system to the new system as seamless as possible, for example, the system will still be able to collect cash payment for transportation fare while taking in smartcard transaction.

The Solution

The fare collection devices developed by PRADOTEC integrates seamlessly with our client’s system while enabling the transaction of both smart card and traditional fare collection options. PRADOTEC developed a robust mobile ticketing machine, the MTM1000 that can be installed on buses, tram and ferry.

The MTM1000 is installed at the vehicle entry, linked with the cash and coins vault for conventional payment, as well as to the Contactless RFID Reader (CTS1000)for prepaid smart card fare payment. This equipment is also designed with a built-in printer for receipt dispensing as well as the option of contact card slot and biometric fingerprint scanner, an added security features for driver identification and authentication.
